Peter’s story
Peter’s Journey: From the Streets to a Safe Haven at Amaudo 2
In 2015, during a community outreach and picking exercise, a young boy—around seven years old—was found naked and abandoned near a busy road. He wandered alone, scavenging for food, exposed to the dangers of traffic and neglect. Passersby paid him no attention. He was vulnerable, invisible, and in desperate need of help.
He was brought to Amaudo, where his immediate needs were addressed and further assessments were carried out. It was discovered that he had significant learning needs—likely a key reason behind his abandonment. The boy’s name was Peter.
With the care and attention provided at Amaudo, Peter began a new chapter. Support workers, therapists, and caregivers worked together to ensure his physical safety and emotional recovery. Gradually, he adapted to the nurturing environment, learning to trust again and showing signs of progress.
To further support his development, Peter was later moved to the family house at Amaudo 2. Here he lives with house parents who provide structure, care, and affection in a setting that mirrors a real family and community. Here, Peter is no longer a nameless child on the street—he is a valued member of a household that understands his needs and celebrates his growth.
10 years on Peter is thriving. He receives care, attends daily learning activities, and participates in routines that build his confidence and skills. The transformation has been remarkable—from a child surviving on the streets to one growing in a home filled with love, guidance, and stability.
Peter’s journey is a testament to what is possible when children are given the chance to live with dignity, security, and hope. Thanks to Amaudo and the safe environment of Amaudo 2, his future now holds promise.
